Construction and properties
A Dead-End consists of a main tube in aluminum coated with explosive, and a fully forged eyebolt as end attachment. For feral-lines, a short steel pipe is also used with an optional aluminum filler pipe. For steel lines, only a drilled eyebolt coated with explosive is used. The flange for the power outlet is welded to the aluminum pipe and bent 15 degrees. In Scandinavia, this is supplied with a 4-hole pattern, 40x40 mm. For small cross-sections, only 2 holes are used.
ā
Dead-Ends are used in installation of electrical transmission lines.
ā
The explosion fixture can also be used for:
- Anchoring of steel cables
- Bardun fasteners for antenna and high-voltage masts.āā

Special characteristics
The eye-bolt must be twisted into the correct position before detonation. The construction ensures and simplifies assembly work. The Dead-End is easy to install and is complete after detonation. Multiple devices can be detonated simultaneously.
ā
The Dead-End is supplied with an eye-bolt already mounted on the main pipe. The eye-bolt must only be twisted into the correct position before detonation.
The construction secures and simplifies. Detonation is easy to install and is complete after detonation. Multiple devices can be detonated simultaneously.
Rules of use and safety
- Detonating fuse must be cut with a sharp knife or special tool suitable for this purpose.
- Detonating fuse must be initiated with a catch cap or teeth.
- Moist pentrite has low sensitivity; interruptions in detonation may occur.
- Dry pentrite has great sensitivity.
- If spills or remnants of detonating fuse are discovered after detonation, this must be collected and treated as an explosive item.
- Safety distance min. 50m upon detonation.
ā
Detonation
- Place the line ends with attached line joint in the shooting stand approx. 1m above the ground. A simple wooden stand can be used for this purpose.
- Make sure the connector is correctly mounted. Inaccuracy can cause reduced grip length and thus reduced holding power.
- Tape the catch cap to the explosive. Make sure that the trap cap is placed in the correct place as shown in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS OF THE USER'S MANUAL, part 3, DETONATION, point 2, and that the trap cap lies in the longitudinal direction of the pipe close to the explosive.
- Carry out turnover of the charge.
- Remove any remnants of the PVC hose and the joint is finished.
